We sincerely appreciate your belief in and support for Kiyomizudera Temple.

Since this year, the roof of The Main Hall has been under renovation work, which may cause inconvenience for all visitors. This renovation work has to be done about every 50 years for basically two reasons.
As one of the biggest religious symbols in Japan which is still an active place of worship, this temple has to keep a sacred atmosphere where people enjoy moments to face their sincere hearts and aspirations, and to wish for their peace.
Meanwhile, as one of the historical heritage sites, this temple has to be preserved for the future generations.
We truly would like to ask your understanding and cooperation.

There is no obstacle in the outer sanctuary of The Main Hall, the place for praying The Main Image.
